House Calls & Home Care

It depends on our schedule, but booking by the day before is the surest option. If our schedule is open, we can accommodate a next-day request. Same-day visits are possible when there is availability, though depending on the symptoms we may not have the necessary medication in stock. We do our best to meet your preferred date, so please get in touch first.

Yes. In addition to house calls, we also see patients at the clinic (by appointment).

We mainly cover central and southern Okinawa Main Island (the areas within the distance bands above). We'll do our best to reach distant areas too, though a travel fee applies according to distance. Please consult us first.

It helps if you can provide a space to park. If that's difficult, please let us know in advance. If we use paid parking, the parking fee will be charged at cost.

If you prefer, we can see your pet at the entrance. A yard may not be possible depending on the weather, and in a yard or garage we can only perform simple procedures such as vaccinations. Acupuncture and body work for bedridden pets can be done at the entrance, but not in bad weather, heat or rain — in those cases, please arrange an indoor space.

In ordinary weather, yes. During storms such as typhoons, we may reschedule for safety.

It varies with the tests and treatment involved, but if you ask us in advance we can give you a rough estimate.

Of course. Signs that seem minor — "a bit low on energy," vomiting, diarrhea, red or itchy skin — often turn out, on examination and testing, to be conditions that need prompt treatment. Please don't hesitate to reach out.

We perform weight and temperature checks, a full physical exam, and urine and stool tests as appropriate for your pet's breed and age. Blood draws are also possible (we'll ask the family to help with gentle restraint). We're happy to provide vaccinations and advice for newly adopted pets. * Imaging such as X-rays and ultrasound cannot be done on a house call.

Yes. We adapt our approach to each pet, including non-insertive (contact) acupuncture. We'll proceed as gently as possible for anxious cats too, so please rest assured.

If you'd like, we're happy to discuss training and behavior during a house call. Our veterinarian is also a JKC-certified trainer and can advise on how to hold the leash and on handling (we do not provide specialized training such as for police dogs).

For pets for whom the trip itself is stressful, we can discuss supplements or Kampo herbal remedies that support relaxation (depending on pre-existing conditions, some may not be prescribable).

Absolutely. Please share any test results from your primary vet and any medications currently prescribed.

Yes. We help with end-of-life care and provide guidance and support for it. We stay close to your pet through the calm time they spend at home.

Our house calls are for dogs and cats only.

Generally we ask the owner to hold their pet (we'll also ask the family to help during blood draws and similar). If your pet tends to struggle, or you're unsure about restraining them, please let us know in advance.

We do not offer nighttime house calls. Standard hours are 10:00–18:00, and for same-day visits 17:00 is the latest possible start time.

We issue an itemized statement after the visit, which you can submit to your insurance provider. If you need a receipt, please ask us in advance. For details, please check with your insurance provider.

We're sorry, but surgery cannot be performed on a house call. We also cannot handle emergencies, as we lack the full facilities of a clinic and travel takes time. In time-critical situations, we recommend visiting your nearest animal hospital.

Care may be difficult when the situation is urgent and a fully equipped clinic is more appropriate, when hospitalization or in-clinic boarding for treatment is needed, or when a pet is so aggressive that no one can safely restrain them.
